Choose oils by formula role and material grade
Tell the supplier which soap process and finished feel you are targeting. Compare the identity and grade of each oil or butter, then assess it as part of the whole formula rather than replacing another fat by name alone.
Can one oil replace another at the same use level?
Do not assume equal behavior. Different fatty-acid profiles and grades can change the soap formula, so review the materials and recalculate and test the formula before substitution.
